Posted - September 25 2003 : 4:22:11 PM I would just like to take a moment to ask- Where are the contemporary John Wayne's? Say what you will, he was a hell of a guy. Proud, strong, unapologetic, American as all hell. My favorite Wayne films would have to be: Stagecoach, Sands of Iwo Jima, Rio Grande, Quiet Man, Rio Bravo, Donovans Reef, Sons of Katie Elder, and the Shootist. If anyone would like to pass along their favorite "Duke" films or thoughts I'd love to read 'em.

Posted - September 25 2003 : 10:08:48 PM "Donovan's Reef"! That is definitely my favorite "Duke" movie. Love that movie! I think my second choice would have to be "Stagecoach". Another one I really like is "Hatari". Others: "Angel and the Badman", "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon", "McLintock" and yes... even "True Grit"! |

Posted - September 25 2003 : 9:57:01 PM His passing hit me hard from nowhere in '79 when I heard it while working....I sat down in the aisle I was working in the warehouse and cried...I was 29 years old.......I liked "Angel and the Badman", "Hondo", "The Searchers"(should have won an Oscar), "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"(another Oscar snub), and "McLintock"...And who else would have had the nerve and guts to make a war movie about Vietnam in the middle of all those protests .. and carry it off ..(going so far as to make the sun set in the East). |
