With all the talk about "The Passion" and Mr. Gibsons morals, religious preferences, etc... I thought it would be fun to see what everyone thought was his best film. In addition I see that "Mad Max: Fury Road" is in pre-production. I'm sure I've left out someone's favorite Gibson film, but what the hey? At any rate please vote for your favorite listed Gibson film.

As one who has never been disapointed with any of Mr. Gibson's work, it was a hard choice for me. Drama, action, comedy, sci-fi; you name it, he can do it. He has also co-starred with some of the biggies as well as the up-and-comers. My favorite line in the "Lethal Weapon" movies was from Joe Pesci's character when he first meets Gibson and Glover, "Hey, is that a 'wheel-gun'(revolver, to the uninitiated), I didn't think cops carried them anymore. I bet the kids' (Gibson) got an automatic..."

My final choice had to be "Galipoli". As Bill so correctly states, it is one of the most authentic of the World War One genre. It also has a very stirring end, where the ANZAC men in the trench are getting ready for the order 'over the top', by writting final letters and the placing of personal effects for easy collection. A very powerful scene, in a very powerful movie.

No...He's not 5'2"...I've stood next to him and he's about 5'10" in boots.

Heath Ledger is 6'1" here's the two of them together:

Did you folks know Mel is 5'2" tall? It's true. I always pictured Mad Max as taller.

I guess I haven't seen as many of Mel's films as I thought. I voted for Braveheart, but The Patriot would be a close second for me.

I feel silly voting for the Mad Max films in this forum, but those are the ones for me. I can't count how many Saturday and Sunday afternoons I've spent watching "Mad Max", "Road Warrior", and less frequently "Beyond Thunderdome" on cable. When I heard we might get another Max film I gave a little whoop and shocked my roommates. I recently purchased the "Special Edition Mad Max DVD" with restored original Australian dialog, it's nice to see dialog matching the lips. The others I really enjoyed were "Patriot", "Lethal Weapon", "Braveheart", "Air America", and "Forever Young".

I was going to vote, but then I looked at the list. Gosh, I'd forgotten there were so many films of his I have enjoyed!

For action, I'd guess the Lethal Weapon films. I liked how each new star's appearance was included into the next and ended as one big happy family. Besides, liked the action.

For sloppy sentimental, I liked Forever Young. For fun, I liked What Women Want. For history, I liked Gallipoli - stuck closest to the historical line. Geez. I can't make up my mind!!!!!!
