Posted - October 18 2007 : 8:19:10 PM Hi guys,
Were any of you at Fort Ligonier last weekend for Ligonier Days? It was supposed to rain, but the weather was perfect. I went to an Iroquois pow-wow at Monaca on Sunday. Good pow-wow!
I am in the parade every year on Saturday representing my Shawnee people.
After the parade, I met two of my Klingensmith cousins dressed as white frontier militia. I assume that they were re-enactors at the fort a bit later.
I always have a good time. Peggy Shepler who co-ordinates the parade is one of my cousins on the white side. No offense intended when I use the word "white" since I also share European heritage of the Pennsylvania Deutsche (German Amish) on my father's side of the family. Heinz 57 here! Since my mother is Shawnee-Seneca-Oneida, that is my primary heritage.
I am proud of all of them. The Amish are good people who choose to live in the old ways.
