I am looking for new contributors for my blog "Military History Blog". The site primarily deals with military history, but I do post on other historical related topics also. If you are interested in being an author for Military History Blog (especially those of you who are historians or possess a large amount of knowledge on military history), please send me either an email or PM with the following:

your name (real, not Mohican board username)

location (just town and state)

web address (if you maintain a personal site related to military history, I would love to link it on the blog to get you more traffic)

what areas you would like to focus in or are knowledgeable in (i.e., specific conflicts or time periods, or branches of the armed forces)

I hope some of you fine guys and gals from Mohicanland join my dad and I, as well as my two other contributors and share your knowledge.

Thank you all for your comments. Rich, I love your avatar, as I like Edward in Braveheart. My favorite scene in that movie is where he chucks the smart alack friend of his son out the window.:D

Getting back on topic. Seamus, I will invite you to join my blog (look for a Blogger email) and you can choose to join me or not. Just because you join as a contributor does not mean I'll expect something right away, you post when you want and when you can. If anyone else is even slightly interested, just let me know and I'll send you an invite also.

I will second Rich and WW....

Nice blog site, Daniel! I may end up contributing one of these days, myself, but I do not have the time right now to get into it.

A studied, but 'undocumented' historian, a legend in my own home, and local schools, I remain, Sir,

Your Honour's Not-So-Humble and Most Obedient Servant,

Very politely and well stated, Daniel. I think your website looks very interesting, and if I were a blogger, I would be happy to post some writings. Unfortunately, I do not consider myself to be knowledgeable enough about any aspect of military history to even attempt that.

Lonewolf:

While you do most certainly have the right to express your political opinions, this thread is not the appropriate location. Please confine all political opinions and comments to The Lions Den Forum, where they belong.

Thank you.

Looks good to me, Daniel!

Lonewolf,

First, I thank you for your service to our nation in the Air Force. Now, just to answer concerns regarding the images in my blog's sidebar, those only reflect my personal views. I even have a note above them stating that they do not necessarily represent the views of all my contributors. I do have to state though that only four images are really "flag waving". I don't think many would disagree with supporting National Military Appreciation Month or supporting the flag via Citizen's Flag Alliance. Some of the images pertain to web rings that I belong to also. I welcome anybody with expertise in military history regardless of political views because most of my posts are not in the realm of policy, but deal with military history in America up through the Civil War or other concerns relating to the historical community.

Second, you claim to be a historian. While I am not trying to sound elitist (Shelby Foote never finished college), your profile states that you consider yourself an "amateur historian", but I must note your current occupations that are unrelated to history. Therefore, what qualifies you to judge my site not be a history site? I am currently studying to be a professional historian (working on my MA) and created the blog to serve as an outlet for others to hear about military history from myself, Buck Sargent, a veteran of the Army who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, my father, and Dr. Steve Woodworth, professor of history at Texas Christian University. I really do not appreciate your attempt to attack the credibility of my site and myself just because you consider a couple images on my site, which are my way of personalizing the site, to be "flag waving". I posted the call for contributors to this board in the hopes of finding interested and knowledgeable people interested in the French and Indian War and blogging, as I am. Instead, your ideologically driven criticism may have caused otherwise good people to not look at my site. My blog is open to anyone regardless of political leanings. Your claim of it not being a history site is dubious since I have posts of reviews of military history books and other news relating to the historical community.

To everyone else in Mohicanland,

I hope that the rest of you will reconsider my call for contributors for my blog and not let one person's unwarranted criticism deter you. Check out my site and if you have questions about the content or layout, let me know.

Thank you,

Daniel

We don't sit around and tell the chief we need an opinion, - we have something similar, call our reps. All sides of an issue dp get to mumble a few words. Instead of using those nasty "misguided Republicans" quites, it might be "interesting" to review a few from the "other side" - no stifling of opinions seems apparent. http://www.slantpoint.com/mt-arx/2003/10/dem_quotes_on_s.php

Greetings Army Brat 84. I checked into your Military History Blog. It's more a flag-waving site than a history site. One must be careful in pursuing the defense of our "freedoms" that we don't become everything that we are fighting against and abhor.
If we hate totalitarianism, we cannot allow ourselves to be totalitarian in order to combat that very menace, otherwise, we may as well join them.
To denigrate those "liberals" who have different opinions than yourself, is crossing a fine line that separates us from allowing free speech, and silencing those whom we disagree with. Very dangerous, indeed! This stifling of dissenting voices happened in Nazi Germany in the 1930's. Only the conservative Nazi voices were allowed to be heard, and the downfall of the country began right then and there.
In situations like Iraq, all voices need to be heard in order to arrive at a sensible solution to a very bad situation.
In the Indian societies of old, all would sit in a circle, and all voices would be heard. Then the chief would weigh all voices and come to a conclusion that was best for all. He may think about a conclusion for a long time. None would be denigrated for their opinions. None would be called bad names.
In the case of Iraq, the American people never had the opportunity to discuss this situation before we entered into Iraq. Some of the reasons for going to war was based on very bad information, or outright distorted information. Lying in Indian society was not tolerated, since going into battle based on false information would result in very bad outcomes.
I am an historian and a loyal American military veteran. I am not a blind "flag waver". Any true historian knows that there are two sides to any fight, and the first casualty of any war is "the truth".
My white ancestor, Robert Morris of Philadelphia, signed the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, the only delegate to sign all three. I believe in the principles of these documents and will die defending them. The latest round of misquided Republicans would like to crap on these documents. As long as I have breath in my body, it will not happen! I am an Independent voter who doesn't blindly vote for a single party.
When we no longer have the right to disagree, we are no longer America!

Some excellent links AB84. I'm sure given some time, you'll pick up several good bloggers. Often quite tough to get something off to a quick start, - hang in there. Here's a "link" from your site - the is our new Rep in Washington, and the sob turns my stomach beyond words. http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Hodes+chastised+for+supporting+Iraq+pullout&articleId=82fd0f6c-adf1-48ef-bc3e-21efe0d6d2cb
