Posted - July 07 2005 : 09:03:37 AM Kwe Kwe, Saigo, Bonjoure, Greetings,
This is to inform all interested parties that this year September 17 & 18, 2005 there will be a once in a lifetime re-enactment on the actual site of the Battle of Lake George. This battle strongly influenced James F. Cooper when he wrote Last of the Mohicans. There will be a re-enactment for the public on both days of the Battle of Lake George and private re-enactor only event for the Bloody Morning Scout. Major player will be portrayed in the likes of Sir William Johnson, King Hendick, & Deskue. Period suttlers will be selling wares, demonstrations will occur throughout the camp, and special cerimonies will be held on the grounds. A rededication of the Indian Fountain is also planned.
An on going fund raiser is occuring to raise Funds for the Indian Fountain Restoration Project. A web site for the 250th Battle of Lake George is also up and running for those who wish to look into it.
Those interested should contact:
Malamute20@aol.com or go to the web site http://groups.yahoo.com/group/250thBattleofLakeGeorge
If you are interested in making a tax excempt donation to the Indian Fountain Restoration Program you will receive information upon joining the web site. Any help with this project is apperciated.
This is the battle that turned the tide of the war and resulted in the building of Fort William Henry which would fall to the French and thier Native Allies 2 years later.
This is the big kick off event for the State of New York and hopefully a trend to the 2007 Siege of Fort William Henry.
Please pass the word among your friends and family and we hope to see you there.
