You might add one more. Hold the child accountable. I always did that with my girls. |

Posted - June 18 2009 : 11:14:55 AM My score was 85% Conservative, 15% Liberal, which I expected.
All sub-scores were 100% Conservative with the exception of Ethics, which was 25% conservative, 75% liberal. I did not understand scoring so liberally in that section and did not know which questions those were.
I did not like some of the choices. It's was hard to decide on some questions with only 2 options. |

Posted - June 18 2009 : 09:26:28 AM Yep, you hit the nail on the head for sure Sarge, but of course just about all internet polls are next to useless (read: author's hidden agenda) anyway. |

Posted - June 18 2009 : 08:06:19 AM Here were my test results:
Social Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal
Ethics: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 100% Conservative, 0% Liberal
You Are 80% Conservative, 20% Liberal
I have to admit that most, if not all of the questions were loaded at best. As an example, look at the 'education' question:
Public education could be improved by
(A) Having a voucher system (B) Revoking No Child Left Behind
The test designer should have added one or more of the following answers:
(C) Increasing public funding (D) Increasing teacher accountibility (E) Look more into improving the curriculum, the infrastrucure is sufficient
In addition to those three answers, the testing should have allowed for more than one answer, and therefore you could have had a more precise 'sliding scale' based on the which of the five an individual chose. Some conservatives think that vouchers are a great idea, but then again so do some liberals; and while two people of politically opposing views may agree on vouchers, they might disagree is on accountibility, public funding and/or No Child Left Behind. This way, one could gauge the center better, and therefore might help define that most mysterious creature, the North American 'Moderate'.

Bookworm, my friend, - you must be heartbroken to get "only" a 90 on that. Since you're clearly a liberal, why not take the test over as many times as you need to - until you get 100%??? ;) ... GG & Obi are "just about" where they post from, - even if Obi doesn't think so.
Many of my posts throughout this whole board are of the "Devil's Advocate" type, so don't get your hopes up! |

Posted - June 17 2009 : 7:21:39 PM Let's see, about 75% conservative huh? ... Mmmmm, yeah about right, plus 5 points on the conservative side, no extra points on the liberal side. Strong bias, - clearly conservative. |

Me! What about me! How does my score compare to my posts???
I should have put the breakdown, so let's see if I can remember...
Two of the categories were 100% conservative. I think they were Defense & Crime and Social Issues. Two of the others were 75% conservative vs 25% liberal, except for one which was 50-50. I think it was Ethics. Not too sure, though.
I agree, though. Not a good or fair quiz. |

Fitz--you are right. Not enough choices nor proper ones, but I did it anyway. Here I am....mostly....I am ashamed to admit to any Liberal leanings, but I tried to be honest. Does that make me a bad person?

Posted - June 17 2009 : 12:43:47 PM It's the same as a poll I saw back in the '90's after Clinton had his affair with Monica Lewinsky. The question was if the affair had changed your opinion of Clinton. Well, no. I didn't like him before, and I didn't like him after, by about the same amount (low as it's possible to be). So the poll called this a positive response even though there was nothing positive about it. Same here. |

Posted - June 17 2009 : 10:41:23 AM Yup, Fitz, you are exactly right, not enough or enough correct choices. With that being said, here's what I came up with (which I disagree with, for the most part). Is this 'middle of the road' or what?
You Are 45% Conservative, 55% Liberal
Social Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Ethics: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal

Posted - June 17 2009 : 06:09:12 AM Castle, - the Feds job is to look after the currency = the greenback. Supposedly independent of politics, - but Washington is Washington, and no one, and no outfit could exist there without politics being involved - unfortunately. The Fed should NOT be concerned with employment - there's already too many folks stirring that pot, - and employment is not on their list of things keep an eye on. |

Posted - June 16 2009 : 11:12:05 PM There are not enough choices, or not the proper ones. It's not about Liberal and Conservative, it's about Government control vs. freedom. And government control is the goal of both Liberals and Conservatives, just different views on what it should do. |
Bookworm |
Posted - June 16 2009 : 10:33:21 PM 90% liberal (surprising no one). |

Posted - June 16 2009 : 8:59:32 PM The Fed should be more concerned with Controlling inflation Controlling unemployment
Pretty ridiculous concerning the Federal Reserve Bank is not a branch of government but a private institution. The poll too is ridiculous. |
Wilderness Woman |
Posted - June 16 2009 : 8:57:20 PM 75% Conservative. Not surprising. Seems about right. |
