Posted - June 12 2009 : 12:17:19 AM I am a proud American and love this country. Throughout most of my adult life, I've kept up with the news, however, now I have given up reading, and listening. Simply had to, it was affecting me adversely and feeling totally powerless to do anything about the stuff that's taking place in DC. Went to a tea party, lots of good people there, didn't see or hear any bigots, racists or homo-phobes, but I'm sure the looney tunes in the Obama loving media would disagree. Actually, lots of people were angry and rightly so. We are witnessing a major power grab previously thought to be impossible, not to mention the $$$$$ being flushed, but will have to be repaid by taxpayers.
Is there any point in writing letters, making phone calls, sending e-mails to our public servants in DC? I've done lots of that, but it feels like I'm spitting in the wind.
Here's what I want to know - when do we march on Washington? (If the FBI is reading this - I mean an absolutely peaceful march!!!) How bad do things have to get before we stand up and say NO MORE!!!? Obviously, congress isn't saying it. When does concern for the country overpower party loyalty? Have they become so power mad that there is no concern about the terrible road they are putting all of us on?
Mohicanlanders, what say you???

Posted - June 13 2009 : 7:00:19 PM Do stop by more often Leah. ... It is indeed a concern, to say the least, when BO says he wants to "re-make" America, - unfortunately he's quite fond of the European socialist template. |

Posted - June 13 2009 : 6:36:35 PM Hi Di-mc and everyone else! I've been away too long, but glad to be back among like-minded people who have the exact same concerns as me. Nashville has a tea party planned for the end of June; have never been to one, but I think I need a 'fix'.
Re: the "change". I got really concerned when I heard a portion of a speech where Obama said he wanted to "re-make America". That about sums it up for me.
Will try to check in more often. 'Tis medicine for my soul.

I feel your pain. I am completely frustrated by what I see on the Telly - not only on the news, but in the general programming. There is so much propaganda that slips in. When is the last time a Catholic Priest was presented as a good guy?? Just an example.
Worse, is what I see as a general public submission to it all. The limits keep being pushed ... the public keeps allowing it. Morals deteriorate; our Constitutional Government continues to erode; the public sits back with their collective "what can I do" attitude. It is depressing, and I wonder for how much longer the USA will be the country it was intended to be ... |

Posted - June 12 2009 : 11:27:29 AM Thanks Sarge! I might just hang the "box" rights on my wall.
MG - BO is obviously so far left, he's hanging off the edge. Someone made the comment to me recently regarding what he said during the campaign that made people vote for him. The only thing I can think if is "change". Well, that we got, no doubt about it. Weird how a word can mean many things depending on what you want it to. Change, such a simple word, it's what happens to a neighborhood during a tornado! Not a necessarily good thing - change. |

Posted - June 12 2009 : 08:18:23 AM Well Lady Di, as for finding Bigots, Racists, Anti-Semites, et.al. at the Pittsburgh Tea Party, I can proudly report that no such animals were there. Only decent, hard-working folks who have a deep love of family and country. However, you can find some Bigots in President Obama's 'circle of friends'; like Judge Sonia Sotomayor and Reverend Wright...

When the time comes, it will be peaceful, since we believe that one should always start that way; but this is not to say that we should be ignored or quashed, for remember the 'Five Boxes of Liberty':
1) The Moving Box (The right to free association)
2) The Soap Box (The right to free speech)
3) The Ballot Box (The right to vote for the leaders of our government)
4) The Jury Box (The right to judicial process)
5) The Cartridge Box (The right to 'set things right', when the other four boxes fail to do so!)

Posted - June 12 2009 : 07:44:30 AM di-mc, - BO is MUCH,MUCH further to the left than most folks realize. He's good at speaking and masks it quite well frankly, but at the end of the day, he is what he is. I'm not convinced marching will accomplish a great deal, - but is still worth a try. IMO, - "we" MUST change Congress with the coming mid-term elections - THAT WILL have an impact. Keep writing though, let 'em know how you see things, and how you're going to vote, - a little "pressure from back home" is always a good idea. ... When you have time you might check out the link to "American Solutions" - some excellent comments and ideas. Best of luck, ...
