Posted - December 14 2008 : 10:33:30 PM Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it.
They failed and it closed.
Now, we are trusting the economy of our country and 850+ Billion Dollars to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze.
Now if that don't make you nervous, what will? |

Posted - December 17 2008 : 1:17:21 PM The rest of the story: although that joke sounds cool, of course it's not quite what happened...from 1990 to 1999, the Ranch stayed open, now managed by a former county commissioner!; in 1999, the Ranch got zapped with another tax fraud (+racketeering) charge & was closed for good. The US Govt took the whole thing...the BLM sold all the building on eBay in 2003! The original owner fled to Brazil (naturally) in 1990 & the Brazil Supreme Court ruled in 1999 that he could not be extradited back to the good old US of A. |

Posted - December 16 2008 : 6:45:57 PM That is funny, Sarge.
But you know what's really sad? When I first started reading the joke I thought that it was true--because it sounded like a lot of real court decisions I've heard about in the last decade or two. |

Posted - December 15 2008 : 11:35:00 AM HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!! Isn't that the truth!!! Anytime you have government put their fingers into aspects of the private sector, it will always turn into something that is mismanaged, over-priced and under-served. That is why the Founding Fathers limited the Federal Government to things it could handle, like national defense and to mediate differences between states.
If you would permit me to drift-off onto one of my famous (or infamous) tangents, as this does remind me of a joke, that goes something like this:
The U.S. Supreme Court decided in a landmark 9-0 decison not to allow Washington D.C. to display any form of the Kresh ('manger-scene' to the uninitiated) within the limits of the district. The decision was based on the fact that nobody could find three Wise Men and one Virgin anwhere within the Nation's Capital. However there are plenty of Asses...
