Hi All,
I have been about to bust to find out what the NC Council of State had decided regarding the Little River corridor falls. I emailed ECO and they replied that the Council has decided to postpone a decision until May 2. The good news is ...if you didn't get a chance to contact some of the officials, there is still time. The bad news is that the opponents to this action also have more time to gather support, so it more important than ever to voice your support for adding the falls to the Dupont State Forest.
A new group called the Friends of the Falls has been formed and they are gathering names for a petition as a show of support against those opposing the acquistion of the falls. I never made it to the URL posting class, but if you go back to the ECO page that Rich had posted previously and then on to the Dupont State Forest Page, all the updates are listed there, as well as what else we can do to help. Kind of an interesting note is that Mike Easley (the NC Attorney General, candidate for Governor, and person responsible for spearheading this effort with the Council) has a brother here in Greenville that is an obstetrician(and lawyer) and colleague of mine (he also delivered my daughter) and I have put in a personal plea through him! So if you haven't done so...GET THOSE LETTERS IN!...so the "River Walk" can be on the agenda for the FOURTH GREAT MOHICAN GATHERING!
Fingers (and arms, legs, eyes, toes, etc.) crossed,
Diana
