: : Sorry--I didn't mean to start a war. I was only being honest, but that has gotten me into trouble before, as well. I feel I must react to a couple of things:
: : First, I am who I say I am. I live in Kentucky, am a housewife with 3 small children, and an interest in history.
: : Secondly, I have no clue who "An even bigger cat" is...and I do not believe I know anyone who would answer in that manner.
: : Thirdly, I intend to continue reading the posts here, and if they click or not, so be it. I will remain "in the dark", and enjoy what I choose to enjoy. If the moment strikes me, I may or may not post again. Thank you, Rich, for enlightening me on the purpose of Mohicanland Message Board. It helped me understand somewhat. I like the site, in spite of this mess. Please accept my apology for upsetting you.
: : Suzanne
: Well, Suzanne ... apologies accepted! Actually, you really didn't upset me ... it was very mild compared to much we have experienced. It's just that I knew your judgement to be untrue & didn't want anyone to have their feelings hurt ... I simply thought it my duty to say something ...
: By no means is everyone here a historical expert, far from it. But, there are many who are VERY knowledgeable in the history, manners & customs of the 18th Century. That certainly shouldn't preclude anyone from having good old-fashioned fun! You know??
: Yeah, it can get wild & hard to follow, but that's the way it is. I've learned the Board must be what it must be. Most people get attracted here because of the 1992 film. Many are ALSO Cooper buffs, or history buffs, or reenactors, or fans of a particular actor. The Board is an almost eclectic blend of the personae these multiple interests bring. I'd love it if there WERE more historically-oriented discussions. Maybe one day there will be. But, even then, you'd need the humor! There were/are days when the tears ran down my cheeks from laughing so hard. There is great wit, great skill, great knowledge, great camraderie ... right here, on this Board! Take that away, it'd be like any other Board ... and this just ISN'T ANY other Board ... It's the MOHICAN BOARD! And I'm proud of it & love the folks that visit!
: Rah Rah!
: Ok, I'm done ...
: Hope you DO stick around!
Gosh Rich,
Well said! That sums things up just as I see them also. I did want to add too though, that a lot of people on this board have met in person and become good friends, and that is a rarity on other boards. Anyway, there are lots of thoughts, ideas, discussions and what-not that have gone before that new folks may just have to go *HUH?* about, and the remedy to that is...STICK AROUND! Suzanne, I've always enjoyed history too, but being in the medical field I hadn't had much time to explore it, but this website has reignited (violently) that spark to learn more about it, and this is the place to begin. Welcome, and hang around a while and more and more of what goes on here will make sense!
Once a newcomer too,
Diana
