No, this is NOT the E-Mail of the week, but it is important, to me & to the person who wrote it ... maybe to you as well, so ...
As I think I've mentioned, I'm on vacation next week, or rather, I don't have to go to the Post Office to work all next week, beginning, actually, on Friday. Among the 60 zillion things I hope to accomplish ... including a trip to Biltmore (aw SHUCKS, the things I'm FORCED to do because of the Web Site!!!) to look over the program they have planned & settle the luncheon plans ... will be to FINALLY actually sit down & begin to write the "Companion Guide To On The Trail Of The Last Of The Mohicans." It's pretty much worked out in my head, and much of it is already written in one form or another, but there's still a lot to do. It will be a companion guide, not only to the book, but to this Web Site, as well. Maybe, ESPECIALLY to this Web Site! That's why I NEED you guys ... Ok, I digress ... Here's a snippet from an E-Mail just received:
"I need to apologize for not sending a "What MohicanLand Means to Me" theme, but I am SO particular when something as important as that is to be penned. I really needed to find the right words and I am working on it, not so much to be included in your companion book, but just to let you guys know how much it has meant. I'm sure you've had some great responses from some of our many great folks, but it does mean something to us to be able to impart those feelings to you. I know you guys hear a lot of *thank yous* , big and small, but please be patient with me while I do this right to suit me."
Truth be told, we haven't received all that much material at all. Some, but not what I had hoped for. Hopefully, some of you are in the same boat as this person. It need not be fancy. Really! Just some input from those of whom the book will be partially about. We have TONS of stuff I could cull from, sent through the years, but I hoped for responses specially for this purpose!
What am I looking for? The possibilities are as vast as this Web Site. I'm really looking for whatever it is you might have to say. How you came to be involved, how it has affected your life (if it has), recollections, reminiscences ... humorous or serious ... it doesn't matter ... it will all assist in defining this place.
So, what say you? Can I expect a few more in my E-Mail box over the next several days?? Actually, though I'll be laying it out intensively over the next 2 weeks, it won't go to print till early summer, I expect, so we may be able to cram in a johnny-come-lately, but THAT wouldn't happen now, would it?!
It just seems a shame to not have the book contain input from those who have built MohicanLand!
All this is, of course, subject to my wife signing a release form and approval from my publishers ... Vita & Elaine! :)
