Dear Col. Weiser,
It has just been reported to me this instant that the henchman, M. du Ranck, has been killed in a fight with one, Seamus MacWilliam. This news came way of a dispatch from a scout at Halifax to my sergeant. It seems that this Seamus was taken captive by the frenchman and Shawanese and was at the point of death until saved in a very odd manner of which I'm still not sure of. Never the less it is now comforting to know that the frontier has been rid of this scoundrel for good.
I hope this letter finds you feeling better from the stomach illness that seems to beset you so often. Please send more supplies to Fort Henry from your store house in Reading as soon as possible, we are in great need of flint, powder and blankets.
Sir, I remain your most humble servant,
Capt. Christian Busse
at Fort Henry
