Seamus,
It has been some time since I had the chance to compose a dispatch to you since my time on patrol has been increasing every day. I pray that you are well.
I heard from one of our scouts,Elden by name, that your friend Timothy suffered a severe hand injury. Praise be that he is still alive. The scout told me of a Mr. Getz perhaps making a lefthanded rifle for Timothy. I have heard of Mr. Getz, he does fine work although I hear he is somewhat footloose if you know what I mean. I pray for Timothy's recovery.
Our commanding officer, Capt. Christian Busse is a fine man. He was highly reccomended by Col. Weiser to Gov. Morris and received his commision from him. Our Lt. is Andreas Engel, who however is being sent to Ft. Franklin to command. I hear Col. Weiser's son, Samuel will take his place. Our Ensign is Jacob Kern. I feel these men our very capable of leading us into battle if be. Also Capt. Busse is a doctor from Reading so he tends to our needs in that regard.
I am getting ready to leave with Ensign Kern and 10 men to travel to Hunter's Fort to check their situation. I will be back in a few days time. I also must get a dispatch to our old friends, Malcolm, Davey and William.
Please keep well my friend
and regards to the lass, Nancy.
At Ft. Henry,
Sgt. Toot
God save the King!
