Dr. Uncle Mark was watching the nephew and niece while there parents were on a trip to Scotland. He was dozing a bit when he heard Hannah speak. "Why do you hate the gray hair, Magua?"
Uncle Mark heard Hiram answer, "When the gray hair comes under the knife of Magua...."
"Hey, hold on there, Buckaroo!" shouted the Uncle. "What are you two doing?"
"Oh, we're just pretending we're some of those people in the Last of the Mohican movie we saw with you. Hey, Dr. Uncle, can you tell us some more about our ancestors during that Seven Up War?", asked Hiram.
Dr. Uncle Mark laughed. "You mean the Seven Years War. Sure, I can tell you a bit more. What would you like to know?"
Hannah's eyes got big. "Did those soldiers, ahhhh, Malcolm MacWilliam and his brother Davey Gunn, did they wear red coats just like the soldiers in the Mohican movie?"
"Well, they sure did. They were British Highlanders, and they were grenadiers. So they wore red coats with green cuffs and collar. And they wore kilts. Just like the people do in Scotland where Mommy and Daddy are right now. And Davey and Malcolm wore these tall hats trimmed in bear fur. They were braw laddies, that's for sure!"
Hiram jumped up and ran around the room letting out war whoops. He yelled, "And did Three Tales, Many Flags, and Seamus run through the woods like Indians, just like Hawkeye?"
"Well, I'm sure they weren't as good looking as Hawkeye! But, they sneaked around looking for trouble so they could report back to Corporal MacWilliam, Davey Gunn and the rest of the soldiers in the 77th. The scouts carried these long rifles which could shoot, oh, probably 100 to 200 yards."
The nephew and niece began to sneak around, hiding behind the chairs and couch. Crawling on her belly, Hannah quipped, "Which way to Can-Tuck-ee?"
Hiram sidled up to her and quipped, "Just go south and take a quick turn to the right!"
Dr. Uncle Mark laughed, "Your two beat all!!"
