: Myrrrrrrrrrrh: First off the obvious 6 degrees (to make Rich happy) is actually only 2, as Ms. W. Ryder was in Alien Resurrection. Which brings me to my second point, if you haven't seen Resurrection, you should. Ripley only gets better with cloning.

To stretch the 6 degrees just a bit further ... I don't know the history, but it would seem that the original "Alien" was based, conceptually, on a 50's horror sci-fi film called "It: The Creature From Beyond Space." Though extremely mild by today's standards, it has always been one of my very favorites, thus, I loved "Alien." "Aliens," too, was very good, I thought, but the series, to my way of viewing it, deteriorated rapidly after that, and included WAY too much foul language just for the sake of it, it appeared.

Regarding "The Thin Red Line" & "Saving Private Ryan": I enjoyed them both. I agree TRL was a bit too artsy for its own good, and if I could only watch one, it would be "Saving Private Ryan," no doubt. Unlike most, though I thought the opening sequence very well done, I enjoyed the stand made by a handful of troopers against German tanks later in the movie the best ... I guess it goes with my "Against All Odds" theme! :)
