: Gee, how come I never wake up with my dress still on? Hmmmmm.
: *Tea* huh? Is that what they're calling the stuff that
: comes out of the cask behind the bar at Bumppo's these

Why, Doctor Mary!! How can you say such a thing!? Lies, pure and simple, and you know it, you...you...you painted hussy, you! Y'all all know Miss Marcia is far too refined and genteel a Southern lady to ever set foot inside that disreputable Bumppo's Tavern, much less create such a spectacle as that just described! Harrrruuuuumph! Besides, I prefer to do my julep sipping on my front porch swing, listening to the pleasant sounds of the morning birds, the afternoon winds, or the nighttime owls. Or all three.
I can assure you that my present indisposition cannot have been caused by anything indelicate at all. I'm quite certain Miss Katie and I had a nice long visit at my house, while we took small, ladylike sips of our juleps and chatted about sewing, quilting, cooking, and the like. No unladylike thoughts of stalwart heroes in scanty loincloths ever crossed our minds, either! (Just in case you thought maybe we weren't such ladies as we make ourselves out to be!)
Now where did I put that laudanum...a few drops would surely dispell this unpleasant throbbing in my temple! I have it on the authority of one Mr. E. A. Poe (a cousin of our own Longue Carabine???) that this stuff is perfectly safe to take and will not become habit forming.
*sigh* Think I'll go take a little nappie before starting preparations for tonight's dinner. Oh, and Doc...if you're hungry, we're having one of my favorites tonight...Greens 'n' Greens...a nice big pot o' mustard, collards, kale, and turnip greens. Sure to shake up your system!
Yours Most Graciously,
Miss Marcia
