: I have also ran across refrences to German Jaeger rifles utilized by Ranger "riflemen", though to the refrences accurecy, I'd leave to Mjr. Bray.

: As to shortened Brown Bess muskets, this was also practiced to some degree during the American Revolution by Butler's Rangers.
