: : : : Hi Elaine and Bill, Thinks for the quick answers. No need to post his phone for me. I'll have to pass on getting a Killdeer rifle, "for a long while."
: : : : Thanks again,

: : : Hi Chris, there are a lot of custom gun builders out there who can build accurate replicas of the same period, I have had three built in recent years myself that are remarkable works of art and also fine shooters. These are usually in the $1000 to $1200 dollar range. I would be happy to give some names of builders if you would like. Paul G.

: : Chris, why not take a look at our own Bill Rooks' Killdeer replica? It's offered for sale through this very site, and I understand it's a fine piece of work. Surely you want to check here before going elsewhere?

: Thanks for the plug Marcia, but I hesitate to put myself in the same league as Wayne Watson. I do think we have a killdeer available for a very reasonable price though......
: On the other hand, I cannot meet the $1000-$1200 range for a rifle. Most of those rifles are being made from pre-carved stocks with most everything pre-inletted, and by guys set up to make only one or several types of rifle - specializing in them and running them out as semi-custom. They are very nice looking rifles and very acceptable for any purpose. Mine are all made from rough stock blanks which requires much more work and time for completion.

You're welcome, Bill. I don't know exactly what Chris is looking for, but since he says he can't afford Wayne Watson right now, I figured he should check you out. If he can't swing quite that much, then he can check out some of the other things available out there. Just thought he ought to take a look at your work before deciding what's best for him right now. Always happy to put a good word in for our resident gunsmith, doncha know!
