Good Morning, Mohicanland!!

Here I am sitting at my desk, shuffling Application forms and dollar bills around and thinking � �do I eat this month or book my seat at the best gol darn movie of the year? No contest! I can DO with losing 10 pounds�! And I expect that one or two of you are thinking the same thing � and going on diets! So here we are, planning and booking for the next Great Mohican Gathering 2000! As Miss Marcia so aptly put it � �who�d-a thunk�?!

And, as Miss Marcia so kindly announced for me a week or so ago, there is to be a special �Cabin� at Gathering 2000! It seems appropriate to give you the details today. As you may remember, Ariel, our little �adopted daughter�, is to be having more surgery tomorrow. We shall be thinking of her and hoping that all goes very well. Her Mum and Dad will be there too, worried sick and wishing it could be them going through it, instead of their precious little one. On top of that, they must worry about how to pay all the horrendous medical bills! But, because that is just too much that any one couple should have to carry, many �Mohicanites' have felt that they wanted to help and donations have been sent. Unfortunately, Ariel�s problems will be on going, so much more assistance is needed. And that�s where 'Mohicanland' comes in, again.

Prior to the last Gathering, I actually didn�t own ONE single picture related to LOTM (I know! I�m SO sad!!), so the idea I might win one of the Raffle items was very exciting!! There may very well be �new� Gatherers this year, in the same position, who don�t have a single picture, poster, whatever. This gave me an idea! I couldn�t help thinking, it would be great to be able to BUY a picture, mouse mat etc. and so�,

At Gathering 2000, we will have the use of one of the �Trader� cabins, where there will be a stall selling various articles. These, hopefully, will be �craft� based, ie. knitted, crocheted, sewn items, (in keeping with Miss Katie�s personna) and also things LOTM based, ie. Notelets, mouse mat, etc. And ANY/ALL profits made will go ENTIRELY to �Ariel�s Fund�.

However, what will be sold will depend on donations from YOU! And ANYTHING will be gratefully accepted!! I know from response to Marcia�s �post� concerning �Ariel�s Cabin�, that many of you are keen to donate items to help Ariel�s cause, and want details! GREAT!! And this is how you can go about donating items.

1) If you are attending the Gathering, please BRING THE ITEMS WITH YOU. However, if you could email me and let me know what items you will be donating, that would be a great help. That helps me know what to expect, (and then I know how much knitting, sewing etc. *I* have to do!! :0)

2) Those folks who cannot make the Gathering, but would like to donate, then sending their donations to Rich and Elaine is the answer to that! �Richfed� have kindly volunteered to be the �mailing point� for donations sent in. Again, if you could email me and let me know that you are sending a donation, that would be so helpful! And please MARK CLEARLY ON THE PACKAGE �Ariel�s Cabin� and send to the following address:

I know from the past that Mohicanites are very warm, caring and generous people!! However, I also know that this year�s accommodation and various �packages� are a tad more expensive than last year�s, and more pennies will have to be found to be able to enjoy the full Gathering programme. With this in mind, I felt that perhaps it might help to offer to cover some of the cost of the article donated, if so wished, if the article is sold. For example, if a knitted shawl is donated, AND SOLD, some of the cost of the wool could be recovered. If that would help sway anyone wishing to donate, then please indicate in your email to me, the cost of the donated article and I'll give you further info.

OK, I guess that has given all you generous people something to think about!! If you have any questions at all, please just zip me an email and I will do my best to answer!! As I said, I know from experience that you are a great bunch of caring and generous people!! Please, remember what happens tomorrow (Ariel's surgery) and what a difference ANY sum will make, to that little family!! You have it in you to help them, I know.

In Miss MMMM�s words, *me, groveling and begging, here*, once again we are counting on your generosity to make our G2K Raffle and Ariel�s Cabin successful! Will you consider this?? PLEASE consider this! ;0)
