: Myrhh asks:
: : Speaking of patterning mannerisms after the '36 film...what I saw was a similarity of HAWKEYE'S mannerisms, especially handling the longrifle. That little toss-and-catch-up of the barrell when readying to move...and Randolf Scott was so handsome, with such sturdy integrity, yet sweet and gentle with Miss Munro...could have been an inspiration to DDL. Did he view the '36 version, does anyone know?
: >>Myrhh, I remember reading that DDL had seen the '36 version as a child and loved it. It was supposedly one of the reasons he really wanted to do the remake. He & Mann both liked it, and were "charged up" about doing a new version.

Oh, that's soooo neat! I think he did a fab job, if indeed he was inspired by R. Scott. Have you seen the '36 version, Marcia? Randolf could give Daniel a run for the money!!! :)
