It's still a big, on-going struggle to keep the Grandfather from becoming another tourist development. Environmental groups have bought the land right up to the boundary on most sides, but can't come near the asking price for the mountain itself.

I haven't heard anything for a couple of years, so my assumption is that for the time being, the developers are still on the loosing side. We didn't go to the highlands festival this past year, but I've heard there's been no further noticeable development on the western face, which is always good news.
