: I didn't care for the sound on the DVD - the THX little signature at the beginning comes out loud and clear on our surround sound; but that's the last I hear of any surround sound on the DVD. But it is a clear picture; but a good idea to buy a few more copies of the VHS.....

: Hey, Jo...I have sound problems, too...but the fault doesn't lie with the DVD. If you do not have DIGITAL Dolby capabilities on your tv/receiver/dvd set up, it won't sound right at all. We have Dobly Pro-Logic, which makes the THX version sound fantastic, but the DVD comes out very flat, muted, and boring. Until we get a new receiver, no DVD will sound right on our setup, even with five speakers. It takes SIX, and the digital set up.
: Just a bit of info we recently learned!
>>Hmmmmm...make that DOLBY Pro-Logic. DOBLY is definitely an inferior sound system! ;o)
BTW, for those who don't have a lot of speakers already, or who have a newer tv with digital capabilities, the dvd sound is probably better. It's just that we had a great system set up that works well with videos, but not with DVDs, so it was a drop in quality for us. We will remedy that someday.
