: : : One - I can't believe the Gathering has actually been moved closer to us!  It's now not more than 60 miles away, so the head Bubba is actually considering going.  He loves this area, and we'll be close enough to spend time in his beloved Blowing Rock!  And one more look at the bottom of Lynn Cove Viaduct, I'm sure.

: : : Two - I didn't know MM directed "The Jericho Mile."  This is the movie that set the standard for made of TV movies in my mind.  Will forever carry the picture of Peter Strauss beating the Olympic time at the end.  Seems MM has been busy for 20 years keeping me entertained.  Thanks for the article.  YRH

: : Well, come on down; only 60 miles???? NO excuse! (hey, we've got what, 2000 miles and three plane changes - and some have further to go!...and a car rental to drive a lot more than 60 miles...) It would be great to see you!
: : Blowing Rock.....well, my sisters and I have fond memories of that place; on our first trip to the 1999 Gathering; we stopped by Blowing Rock...went throught the gift shop first, got a few postcards, etc. and out the door....walked along beautiful paths; great sceanery until the wooden platform overlook; and hey, we missed the "blowing rock"...we retraced our route; still didn't see it...got out our postcards and started comparing all of the rock outcroppings to match the picture...finally found it!  Somehow we missed the "lower trail" which had the sign; and we expected some huge "rock"; boy, were we on the trail laughing so hard, everyone there detoured around us....if they knew we were from California, that would have sealed our fate...
: : But beautiful views; and that wind blowing up....
