: : Hi, Adele,

: : I read Follow the River, and enjoyed it, too. But my favorite Thom book is From Sea to Shining Sea, the story of the Lewis & Clark expedition. Utterly incredible! Makes what we learned in school seem ridiculously skimpy. Check it out!

: I've read all three books and enjoyed them all. Isn't it too bad that history, as taught in school is so boring, when in reality it is so fascinating.

I couldn't agree more Chris. The only history I was remotely interested in at school was 20th century stuff - I always read a lot of fiction but never non-fiction. Now it seems that I constantly have my nose in a biography or history book - I think that to be a good history teacher, you need to be able to spin a good yarn. Our history is so full of them that teachers should be spoilt for choice - unfortunately, so many of them have the ability to make even the most exciting tales seem dull!
