: Okay--now I'm scared! I bought my new computer system with a DVD solely for the purpose of seeing the director's cut. I have yet to have time to see the entire movie, but I have watched it up to "And Magua will show you the way...". So far I was very pleased with the picture quality, and I liked the few added scenes at Cameron's cabin when the gang first shows up. I am chomping at the bit to see the rest--now all this talk about fixing what wasn't broke et cetera has me worried! I hope that I am not headed for a major disappointment! But I agree with Rich, we asked for the director's cut and got it--even though Mann's vision may be different from our own. Now--I just gotta find time to watch this thing!!!!!--PP
Hi, Penny! You didn't read all our earlier comments on what we liked and disliked about it, so you don't have the background behind today's little remarks, but not to worry. You may LOVE the DVD. A lot of folks do. Rich does. *I* really DON'T. In fact, that's an understatement. But that's just my personal opinion, and goodness knows, it's nothing you should pay much attention to. (Nobody around HERE pays ANY attention to me, so why should you?) Seriously, just watch it and decide for yourself.
As far as asking for it, as I said, I just wanted some additional footage. I didn't want dialog omitted and scenes left out. I thought on a DVD, we could have things added without things being subtracted. But...see...Michael Mann didn't pay any attention to me, either! ;o)
Anyway, I'll be interested in hearing what YOU think when you finally see it. Me, I'm for leaving it stay as it lays...and that's on my THX version! ;o)
