: So - their powder is "soakin' wet" (said in a distinctly DDL Irish accent) and therefore useless...right? So does it dry out in time to put Duncan out of his misery?! Or do they stop at Ye Olde Gunpowder Shoppe on their way to the Huron village? Answers please on a postcard to.... all right a follow up mail will do!

Adele,
Good question....like the one when Hawkeye is the last over the falls but Chink is the last to get to the rock on the river...these are questions no one, to my feeble memory, has much of an answer, (or comment) during my time on the board, so I would suspect, either quick drying powder, (is this possible....have NO idea! Not being one to have any on the shelf...) or it has been mentioned before, about "catches" of goods in the forest, (hey, how could these guys even eaten along the way, so that much has been talked about; but no specific, (or really buried) posts I can recall).
As far as who's first off the jump into the E ticket swim fest, well, it has been mentioned before, and no answer then either; as to why; well, I figure Ching just got tired, hung up a bit on a rock, and let go after his sons swept by him.....I was always amazed they kept all of their "goods" with them...(even those bedrolls...) in the book, even Hawkeye's rifle stays behind at the falls...(if I remember right....)
It is interesting on my VHS screening, there is a faint shadow, a "man in the moon" shadow of a "diver" on that "free fall into the river scene" but on my DVD version, no such shadow....guess that clears that up....
