You know, running this Web Site has literally produced some of the highest highs & lowest lows in my life. Thankfully, the former greatly outweigh the latter ... thus enabling us to continue.
The Saga of Ariel ... though only REMOTELY connected to the theme of this Web Site, LOTM (Yes, she CAN be connected within 6 degrees!) ... has produced perhaps the greatest joy. I am sorry, but I get teary-eyed looking at this little person's face, I really do. It eats me up ...
Anyway, our auction produced a generous donation for her. Even greater, were the un-solicited donations that accompanied that ... from some of YOU guys! Here is a quote, received just minutes ago, from our Ariel liaison ...
"Ariel is getting ready for her surgery in London, Ontario on Januray 31/00 at 6:30AM. Both Lori and Garnet (the dad) will be with her. The donations are coming at the right time and the Boutette's are VERY grateful. Lori says: "Every little bit helps!" Ariel herself is doing fine. She is a content baby, although she is waking her mama up at 4:30 in the morning..:) Since she has trouble gaining weight (she lost about 3 pounds) they are constantly trying to feed her.:) I must say that Lori is handling things very well. She has a good sense of humour and a positive attitude!!! I could talk to her for hours..:) I told her about the MOHICAN family and the things we'd like to do and she was quite touched. She will certainly provide us with updates and pics. As a matter of fact she took two rolls of film of Ariel last week..:) For the time being, here is a pic a friend of hers had up on her website. Lori gave me permission to use it..YAY!!! It's not that recent, but good enough!!! I will see her tomorrow again to hand over the cheques. BTW, perhaps you could e-mail me pics of the people that donated. I think it would be nice for Lori to put a face to the cheques.:) ..."
Interestingly, for me, is the fact that Ariel's birthday coincides with our own youngest, Isabella's. Her surgery is scheduled on our oldest's 19th birthday ...
Thank you guys!
