: Although I haven't picked up the DVD yet (50 lashes for me!) I might have an answer for that. DVD's can hold alot of information, much more than two hours, somewhere around four, I believe. One of the ways they do this is by making the disc "dual layer". The laser has they ability to read thru the top layer of info, and then read the second layer (if the movie is long enough to warrant it being there). During the transition period of the player finding the starting point of the second layer, there is a small stutter, if you will. I have seen this on numerous DVD's. Some DVD's actually tell you the point that this happens on the case, but most don't. When this happens to me I can look at my display panel and see the word "search" momentarily before it goes back to the counter. And yes, the sound stops also, for a sec. Most of the DVD's I have seen this on put the break in a place where there is no, or as little as possible movement and as little sound as possible also.

Well, Bruce, thanks for the info; it was very interesting; although sometimes I think my trusty old 9V transistor radio I had as a teenager was much more managable....and easier to understand and use....
Well, I have the DVD disc; (do you have yours yet????) but still no DVD player; LOTM hubby gave me a SONY one for Christmas, but it had no ZOOM; so how can I not have that to ZOOM in on certain parts of LOTM??? (Evidently, LOTM hubby doesn't appreciate the finer aspects of the movie....)So off it went and now waiting for a Toshiba (with ZOOM)player to be sent....will be curious to see if there are so many "skips" on my copy....and to finally see what the "Director's cut" looks like. My sisters are coming over to view it at the end of the month so maybe I'll get them to review it too.
