: Though the mountains have become less formidable by the time they reach KY, they can be steep with the possibility of falling or slipping and plunging down the side into a boulder filled gorge. One must choose one's way carefully, especially off trail.  The strenuous effort is well rewarded when sitting under a glorious rock shelter or beside a beautiful creek. How much easier it is for men who seem so much better adapted to hiking thru the wilderness.  Sometimes a woman must make her own way according to her abilities.
