: Last night we stayed home and watched CNN usher in the New Year from around the world. It was awesome! Rebecca, it was fun when they showed Calgary. I don't know if you were watching, but the natives were feeling great and proud to be Canadian. San Francisco put on a pretty good show, as well. It is amazing that the world has become so small, thanks to the media. The last folks to wish in the New Year were from Alaska. They braved the extreme cold to be out on the streets. Did anyone else happen to watch the world-wide events?

Hi Ayesha,

Unfortunately I fell asleep during most of the broadcasts..:( I remember seeing some of the festivities in New York, Paris ( loved those Eiffel Tower fireworks, wow!!)Toronto and Montreal. I completely missed out on the festivities in Edmonton and Calgary. I did found out though, that our First Nations were very much included in our Edmonton New Years celebrations!!! Speaking of: Inuk singer Susan Aglukark has a new CD out which I bought a few days ago. I like it very much and was especially moved by a song called E186..Susan wrote the song tackling a very dark chapter in CDN history, when Inuit had to wear identification 'dog tags'. No names, just numbers...BTW the CD is called UNSUNG HEROES..If I find out more, I will post. In the meantime you can get more info on Susan on my website..

Best Wishes, Rebecca
