Just Curious

We had to watch the movie again since my husband got Rich's book for Christmas, and I was once again struck by a question that I always have when watching, then forget after it's over. I'm sure there's been discussion of it in the past, so if anyone can point me to the appropriate archival records, I'd appreciate it.

All through the movie, Hawkeye has a cut/scar on his left cheek, under his eye. Does anyone know if that was on DDL, or a part of the movie. It always struck me that it was possibly accidental early on in filming and was easier to keep in than to hide in the close-ups. Any info would be appreciated....thanks. YRH
