: : In the waterfall scene, Cora told Hawkeye to not tell Alice about Colonel Munro's death. He agrees, of course, but when he is asking Sachem to let the children of the dead Munro go free, Alice has no reaction. Maybe she thought he was talking about her mother. Then again, maybe Magua told her when they were capture at the waterfall. I know, it's just a movie, but I thought it was funny.
: Dear Treasa,
: I always assumed that Alice's mind was too foggy at that point to comprehend what was being said. She doesn't really understand anything until Cora is taken towards the fire and Magua begins leading her away. Then she reacts. I do have to admit however that her eyes are fairly alert throughout.

Then, too, there's an undefined period of elapsed time between the time Cora tells Hawkeye to, "Say nothing to Alice," in the cave and the time Hawkeye is speaking to the Huron Sachem. The DVD lets us know that at least two nights separated these two events. Who knows what transpired in that time? Perhaps even Cora decided she had to tell her. It was probably another in a long line of happenings that led to Alice's ever-dwindling mental state!
