Dear Treasa,
I always assumed that Alice's mind was too foggy at that point to comprehend what was being said. She doesn't really understand anything until Cora is taken towards the fire and Magua begins leading her away. Then she reacts. I do have to admit however that her eyes are fairly alert throughout.
