Ten days offline...ten days with no email, no Board, no access to my websites...TEN STEEEEEEEEEEEENKING, terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad days!!! ARRRRRGH!! And I don't know if it's over yet!
The good news is, I've got my computer back home for the 2nd time. (The first time I brought it home, it only worked 24 hours, and I couldn't get online at all.) This time, after spending over an hour on the phone tonight with the good folks at my ISP, I'm online once again, but I think the only dial-up connection that works may be long distance...ACK!! So I might be off-line again tomorrow, until they fix that. The problem seems to be on THEIR end this time.
For those who were wondering, it would appear that the Elf Bowling thing was most likely a hoax, though I certainly DID have a virus from somewhere. I no longer have any of my database files, addresses, emails, etc, and have lost an unbelievable amount of hard work. I do have last year's Gathering records to pull from, but it would be wonderful if you folks would email me a short message with your addresses & telephone numbers for my records. (Those of you who attended either of the last two Gatherings, that is.) Believe it or not, I had JUST finished compiling the long overdue address book, and now I have to start over from scratch. *the sound you hear is NOT me tearing out my hair, as I'm plumb bald already from doing that LAST week!*
Many, many thanks to those who have called, written, or otherwise gotten in touch with me. It was MUCH appreciated! And to those of you who sent me email in the hopes that I was able to receive it, I've just finished downloading it all, and will answer as soon as I possibly can.
On a happier note, my son graduated from Law School, with Honors, on Saturday morning, and it was one of the very proudest days of my whole life. My heart was completely full when I saw him start down the aisle in his beautiful black robe with the purple velvet bands. An elegant ceremony! And Wednesday, my daughter arrives from Chicago for a long-anticipated Christmas visit. So...my holidays are very bright, indeed, even with the frustration of losing so much time and work from this computer problem. Though I missed each and every one of you very much for what seemed like WEEKS and WEEKS, I'm feeling very blessed right now, and planning to enjoy the heck out of my Christmas and New Year's.
Hope you are all feeling equally blessed!
It's good to be back!
