Hi Claudia!
Good to see you around again!
: To some extent releasing different versions seems to be a marketing ploy more than the purist dreams of the director come true.
> To "some extent" I'd agree. For me, I'd have certainly bought it anyway, even if it was identical to the video version - and been satisfied - just for the radically improved audio & video.
: I wonder if there is any meaning to a "classic" movie if the director keeps changing it, for whatever reason?
>Well, I feel it's the creative process that really never ends. He (the director) is the only one who has the "right" to do this. Anyone else cuts Hawkeye's lines & I scream & yell & get incensed. There's probably been things that, over the years, MM wished he had done differently. Releasing it on DVD gave him the chance to tinker. Seven years from now, he'd probably do it differently. It never ends. I know, listening to tapes of my old band, I hear SO many things I'd do differently now. Same with my LOTM locations book. How I wish I had the opportunity to do it all over again NOW!
: And, my feeling is that most people who saw the version with all the dialog will always prefer it...if the DVD is the FIRST time you see the movie, with no preconceptions, maybe you'll like it better.
>On that I agree 100%!
