Hi Rich and everyone,
Well we FINALLY got our player hooked up and were able to watch the directors cut, it's been lying here on the coffee table since the 25th and Dave and I must have picked it up and opened it a hundred times but it wouldn't give away it's secrets.
Well after catching our breath at the absolute beauty of the opening elk hunt scene (I swear I could see each leaf on the trees) DISASTER struck when the speakers starting cutting out at the peak of each loud sound, whether it was music or gunshots. We finally just turned off the external speakers and watched the TV alone, but we had to turn the volume up quite high. We'll have to find an outside source to solve this one I guess. It's beyond us.
Except for the personal disapointment of not having the Alice, Uncas story expanded (which we already knew about from the Board) everything else was great, especially the darker scenes where we missed so much and didn't realize it. Also when they're looking down at the fort and Uncas looks over his shoulder at the enemy coming down the hill behind him, gee there's a dozen or so and I never even saw them before. Although I will have to say I'm still also not sure of the last speech by Chingachgook, I've only watched it twice so far and I just don't know. I guess we'll just have to watch it AGAIN!
And you're right Rich, there's no going back I don't think I'll buy anything else. Now if only I could REALLY HEAR THE MUSIC.
I think I better go check out that speech again.
Take care everyone, God's Blessings on you all
Love, Darla & Dave
