: I have to say that I'm happy to see some slightly more positive impressions of this new release begin to surface! Sad to say, we STILL haven't seen it! :(((( Still waiting on delivery!
: Seems the video & sound are the best yet & there ARE new things ... so, I remain intrigued. Of course, it is apparent that it's not close to being what we had hoped for in the way of restored missing footage, but, all in all, I still remain anxious! It is good that it has appeared on DVD, sure to be replacing VHS over time. When I watch it for the first time, I want to try, hard as it may be, to imagine how I would have reacted had this been the way I FIRST viewed it!
: As soon as we do see it, we'll update the DC Page with our review, for whatever that may be worth ...
: Meanwhile, here's a review we found on the Net. Notice the clarity of the screen captures! ... Oh, and the day we spoke to Forward Pass, back in August, we were told that Michael Mann had just finished work on it that weekend. For better or for worse, we believe this final product IS his work!

Hi Rich - everyone!
OK, well, guess what I have been doing for the last 6 (?) hours (instead of unpacking my suitcases, doing my laundry, getting the groceries in, phoning my Mum to let her know Im home from vacation, etc.!) I was watching the new DVD version of our favourite film of course!! And though I seem to be swimming against the general consensus here (if youll pardon the mixed metaphors), I actually LIKE this version very much!!
Granted, Im really disappointed it doesnt have those 12 new scenes I was hoping to see, and I was bitterly disappointed that Clannad got the chop!! But, as for losing those great lines some day you and I and nothing better to do, though I kinda liked them, I didnt see them as important with a capital I. However, I DO have to say that I really enjoyed Duncans Diversion scene. And as for the new ending I LOVED it!!
I cant work out how Mr. Manns mind was working when he made the cut and add decisions. (And they say womens minds are hard to follow!!) Goodness knows there is no need for a time limit to the length of film so why were cuts necessary and more new scenes not added? Well, I guess the only way to find out/try to get a better DC version, is to go to the source!! A new DC Drive anyone?
Best wishes,
Kate.
