: Hi Joe,
: Thanks for the update. I've been wondering how it's going.
: I can't believe you haven't met Eric Hurley with his great personality.
: If you have some time you should check out the soldiers pagers here.
: You'll read all about Eric and Mark.
: You should become aquainted before you're done shooting. I'm
: looking forward to the premiere just to see Eric. (forget about
: Mel) It's nice to know the plot of the movie now. Sounds good.
: Any chance you could send a picture of yourself (in one of your
: reenactor outfits) to Rich so he can post it here. Then we'll
: watch for you in the background too when we see the movie.
: Unless......you come to the 2000 gathering and we can meet you
: there! Join the family!
: I'll be looking forward to more posts by you. Tell us how many
: times you get killed in the movie! Yep, must be fun. This fall
: I was taught how to shoot a Brown Bess. Sure made me jump the
: 1st time. I really get a kick out of it. The noise and smoke.
: I'll be going to lots of reenactments next year. Our friend
: Sarah M has already taken part in a mock battle. She loves it too.
: Take care, and don't get kicked in the head like Eric did while
: making LOTM....... Donna : ' )
Donna,
I have known Mark for many years and actually told Rich about his training of Hawkeye, there are so many extras on this shoot.( more than 500 yesterday ) that I'm not suprised Eric, Chris and I haven't met..I have met others who took part in LOTM, One of them is My Company Commander, I think I see him on the Soldier page just above the drummer in the group shot of the 60th Regt. As for getting kicked in the head, that's already happened to two "wounded" Continentals during part of the filming of the Battle of Camden..also one got a broken leg from a horse stepping on Him when he went down during filming..If you think shooting a blank cartridge is fun.. try a "live" round..those Bess's really kick too..and the cannons...we were shooting two five pound sacks of flour out of them to make them recoil, several were not cut correctly to disperse and flew over the heads of the advancing infantry.. talk about "friendly fire"..I have watched them blow off a guy's head with a cannon ball and take off another's leg with one skipping across the ground..(all really neat stunts)
I will try to copy and sent a few photos I have taken and let Rich post them.. And I'll ask around about Eric and Chris.
till then, Be Well..
