: : : : : Is anyone else ready to start on a Cooper Book? Should we start with LOTM or another of The Leatherstocking Tales? Should we "volunteer" a discussion leader?
: : : : : I have my dictionary. I'm ready.

: : : : Dana,
: : : : I'm ready whenever anyone else is. Suggestion: start with "The Deerslayer" so we can meet Hawkeye when he started on his first warpath. Then it is an interesting contrast to look at his personality 15 years later in "The Last of the Mohicans", or 17 years later in his one and only love affair in "The Pathfinder". He changes radically as a person as the books progress. This would also give us a chance to meet Chingachgook and Hist O Hist before Uncas was born.

: : : I'm so glad you suggested that particular order, Gayle! I wasn't sure I could put Hawkeye's life in order going backwards. Sounds like a plan to me. Anybody else?
: : : Dana
: : That order sounds great to me! I'll be ready to start anytime -- after a trip to Barnes & Noble, that is!

: Hey! Me too! But like Jenifer, I have to make a quick trip to Amazon.co.uk first! Once I have the book and start reading, I'll take part in your discussions too. Funny, isn't it, Gayle, how this idea seemed to spring out of thin air? Another reason to believe in 'fey'?!!
: I'll try to be with you guys soon!
: Kate.
Welcome aboard, Kate. I was hoping you would jump on this bandwagon! It will take a while for folks to all get the book, but we can take our time getting started on it. Anybody that is started can post in with comments or questions while we all read along, and by keeping it in a thread, those who jump in late can catch up. I guess we'll decide to go faster or slower as we see how it works. This will be an interesting experiment.
