: Hi Everyone,
: I am back from my travels. Are you all sure you want to start with a Cooper book ???????????????? Is there anyone else out there with a vote for Sherman Alexie? I will go with what ever the group wants. I was hoping for an "easier to read" novel, but will go with whatever the rest of the group wants.
: By the way, Happy Birthday to Yoooooooou, Happy Birthday to Yooooou, Happy Birthday Dear Elaaaaaaaaaine, Happy Birthday to Yooooooou.
: We wish you many blessings, Elaine.
: Let me know if there is anyone else out there in favor of starting with a different author.
: All the best,
: Ayesha
Hi Ayesha,
Thank you & EVERYONE for the birthday wishes!!!
Book club; Here's what you guys should do. Go for both Cooper & Alexie simultaneously. It might be a model plan for future readings/discussions. Read & discuss a contemporary & a classic at the same time.
Those who wish to join both can do so but it might be easier if an alternating schedule is implemented.
Suggestion; week one could be targeted for Cooper, chapter 1 & 2.
Week two could be scheduled for Alexie, chapter 1 & 2.
Week three, Cooper, chapter 3 & 4.
Week 4, Alexie, chapter 3 & 4.
And so on ....
This seems best suited for allowing a reasonable pace for reading & discussing while still permitting two authors' works to be enjoyed.
Assuming this is agreeable to all interested in these book clubs, how about setting the week of November 7 as a Cooper "Deerslayer" (Chapters 1 & 2) discussion week.
November 14 can begin the discussion of Alexie's "Indian Killer" (chapters 1 & 2).
The pace can be adjusted if need be.
Because some posters do not have browsers capable for chat rooms, and because there will be interest in these discussion from many who might not actually post, please do use the board for this!
Yes????
