: : : I too have been looking at DVD prices. I didn't catch the model number, but the Sam's here has a Panasonic model for $159.99. They also have package deals where you get a free DVD with the purchase of a TV. Sam's has a pretty good selection of DVD movies available also which ranged in price from $13.99 - $18.99. I was shocked at their prices, I had anticipated them to be much higher. Walmart also has had DVD's on sale in the $160-180 range, and I believe they were Panasonic models also. I'm sorry I can't vouch for the quality since I haven't purchased one yet, but it's nice to know affordable models are out there.

: :   Make sure that the Panasonic model number is at least the A110, not the A105 (which was a first-generation player and had some problems.  If you can get the A110 for that price, I think that would be a pretty good deal.  Here is a review of the A110 from back in April of 1998 (when it first came out):

: :   DVD prices really can vary enormously from studio to studio.  Disney is finally going to start releasing some of their classic animation onto DVD, but they are going to MSRP at around $40, meaning they will be tough to find for less than $30.  Sams does usually have pretty good prices, though.
