: Citizens and Friends,
: It has been suggested that our fair colony is in need of a national anthem. The Mohicanland Library and Histerical Committee has thus decided to sponsor a contest for the best song. We encourage all citizens to think about what Mohicanland means to them and to submit their anthems.
: When all submissions have been received, the citizens will cast their votes for their favorite song. In case of a tie, the top contestants will run a gauntlet, kindly organized for us by S.Girty and his Shawnee brothers. Whomever is left standing will be declared the winner.
: First Prize will be an all-expense paid week's vacation at Fort William Henry, with an opportunity to participate in a realistic re-enactment of the Fort William Henry Massacre, staged by Frontier Frolics, Inc. of Gnadenhutten, PA.
: First runner-up will receive free rehabilitation in Dr. Mary's Program for the Artistically Challenged.
: So send in those manuscripts, folks. All entries must be post-marked no later than midnight, August 4, 1757. We assume no responsibility for manuscripts which get burned, blown up, waterlogged or eaten by the Gnome.

Dear Miss Gaylee,
I do thank ye for encouragin' me to enter this contest. As I was washin' my buckskins in the spring this fine mornin', I got to thinkin' about how I love huntin' in the forests and canoein' up and down the rivers and bein' fri'nds with all the good folks hereabouts, and this song just sorta popped into my mind like a spark off'n my flint. Hope ye'll like it.
Mohicanland the Beautiful
O beautiful for wattle huts
And wigwams built of wood -
A hunter's home where Injuns roam
Just like they use to could.
Mohicanland, Mohicanland,
Yer frontier paradise -.
Where buckskin gals and bees are pals
And nobody has lice.
