: Yup.  That's exactly what I meant Marcia.  This topic could easily degenerate into a fight, or my words could be taken to be looking for one.  So if they were deleted to keep that from happening it is fine with me.  The interesting thing though, is that we can say those things and NOT be looking for a fight, that we will allow those who sneer to have their opinion, but those who sneer at patriotism take it as fighting words that we stand up for those values.  Better they should be as willing to fight intellectually for the country that allows them to differ in opinion, than denegrate it for its fairness and tolerance.  NOTE:

: : Good on ya, Bill!  Let me clarify one thing, though.  I didn't mean that this thread might/could be deleted because it expressed our patriotism...merely that there had been some arguing going on, and since most of us have been trying to help restore the normal positive tone of the board lately, perhaps the argumentative threads might be better done away with.  I know neither Rich nor Elaine would ever begrudge any of us our feelings, one way or the other, about most issues.  They are far too fairminded for that.
