: : About the hair thing, Silver Wolf. From what I have read (which ain't a whole heck of a lot) native americans shaved their heads save for one section called a scalplock(?)when they were at war. In LOTM I noticed most of the actors who attacked in the valley wore their hair in this manner. There was one who did not, and he stuck out like a sore thumb. As a re-enactor, I think one would have to be quite dedicated to wear their hair like this all the time. So, how do you wear your hair?
: : Another hair question. In one of the fort scenes in the film, there is a warrior sitting by a fire smoking a pipe or something. As he blows smoke out, he kind of rubs it on his head. What's THAT all about?

: More good questions, Dana! I hadn't noticed the one Indian who "stands out like a sore thumb." Can you be more specific as to where/when he appears? As to the smoke question, I'm sure Silver Wolf can give you info on that. I understood it has to do with cleansing & purification, I think. Silver Wolf, what say you?

Thanks, MMMMarcia! The scene I was refering to is the Massacre Valley scene. I'm sorry. I should have been more specific to begin with. He only appears briefly. Don't get me wrong. His hair is beautiful. That just makes it all the more noticable. I can't wait until my husband retires. He promised me he would grow his hair!
