We are in the process now of tracing my grandfaters roots. We hit a dead end so we've hired a "professional" to trace the roots for us. As far as my regallia, I have a pair of handmade elk skin mocs that a god friend of mine made. A have a dark brown suade breech cloth and tie on leggings. The cloth is decorated like Hawkeyes. I have fringe run the full length of the leggings. I wear a drop sleeve shirt that has vertical off-white and brown pin strips and 2 sizes to big. They were always big so the settlers that wore them could use them as a night shirt. My sash is black and my I wear my knife on my front left side and my tomahawk hangs on my back off the sash. I also use black legging ties. I also wear a badger hat that a good friend made. When I attend pow-wows I carry no weapons. If I dont carry my rifle I carry a war club. Also when I attend pow-wows I dont dance because I'm a white man from the knees down. I also blanket trade. You lay a trade blanket on the ground in front of your lodge and sell your items from it. Your next question Dana? It may be awhile before you see the first items start showing up for sale because I'm going to the Battle Days Festival in my hometown of Point Pleasant, WV. It was the first battle of the American Revolution. Colonial militas led by Col. Lewis defeated a band of indians led by Shawnee Chief Cornstalk who was later killed in Fort Randolph at the Point. I'm hoping to sell a good bit of my stuff. But keep looking it's gonna show up here in the near future.
