: HECTOR, YE DURN FOOL PUP! I left ye here to guard the bushes while I brought back the net, so that crazy cat wouldn't sneak out afore we could head him in the right direction. Where is he? Answer me ye laggard! There's not even a rabbit of any distinction in that blackberry patch that I can see. Hector! HECTOR!!
:
: Hector: Snnnnnnnnnnnnore
She Who Tracks: That there was one fine job o' following those pawprints through the brush, Uncle Wiscone. Yes, it was. Now, look - there - over there at the corner of Miss Polly Anna's house, just where those bushes end. Sure is dark without a moon to help us track, but - yes, I see something slinkin' outta the bushes. Quiet now. Uncle Wiscone, you just take yer end o' the net and move over to the left a little, and Sheriff Twigg, if you just spread your end thataway, I'll raise the net just a bit and - - -
FLING! Ssssssssssssssh - WHAP!
There! We got it. Close up around it now and hold on tight!
Uncle Wiscone: Thought cat was bigger. Not much bigger than Gnome, but sure fight hard!
SCRAMBLE KICK SCREEEEEEEECH!!!
Sheriff Twigg: Now we got it wrapped up good and tight. Nice job! What'll we do with it?
She Who Tracks: Iff'n we can haul it over as far as that hickory tree, we can hang it up in the branches for a while and go on over to Bumppo's Tavern to decide what to do next. Never did know a cat to kick so. All right - now . . .HEIST! Uncle Wiscone, you pull it up with the rope, and I'll knot the other end of the rope around this here branch, and - - - there! PHEW! Noisy son of a gun. Did you hear a four letter word from somewheres? Weren't me.
Sheriff Twigg: T'wernt me.
Uncle Wiscone: Don't know no four letter words - only Mohican words. They loooooooong words, all of 'em.
She Who Tracks: Too dark to take a better look in the net tonight. We'll come back in the morning and see if it's worth skinnin'. I'm for gettin' something to take the thirst off this job. How about you? Bumppo's?
