I hope you don't mind if I stop over on my way home from Sunday School tomorrow with my nephew Percival to admire the new acquisition. Little Percy is visiting for just a short while, and I have had such a difficult time keeping him amused. He's such an active little fellow. I know he will just love seeing your new parrot.
My Dear Miss Gaylee,
Why, to be sure, I'd love to have company tomorrow. There's nothing I love better than a nice visit from one of the sweetest, smartest and most congenial of Mohicanland's citizenry. Aren't you just the nicest thing to suggest a visit, and to be bringing along your dear little nephew, Percival. My, I do so love children, and tea parties, and lovely afternoon pleasantries. I'm sure little Percival will enjoy seeing my new parrot, Basil. I always think young children learn so much from pets, don't you?
Of course, I haven't had Basil long enough to be familiar with all of his darling personality traits, yet, but I'm certain they will make themselves known over time. He was a mite noisy when he first arrived, but I'm sure it was just that he was hungry and all fashed out from his long journey up from the South, an' all. Now, he's just as good as gold, sleeping like a wee little green angel, with his cunning little feathered head tucked under one wing, ever so clever-like. I just can't wait for you to see him!
I'll be eagerly awaiting your visit, and I'll have some nice fresh-baked cookies on hand for dear little Percival!
Until tomorrow,
Yours With Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice,
Polly Anna
