: Now I keep hearing noises around the house and have to remind myself that they captured the wolf. Um...don't wolves travel in packs??

Not always Chris, there are "rogues" as well....
The one that was spotted in our camp when I was about 6
and came up a sniffed my head (while I slept) was seen being alone.
My grandfather also had an experience with a lone wolf in the Ozarks of Missouri in the 1930's.
You have any reason to go out at night?
(hehe) ;-)
Around here it isnt wolves that are the problem, but ever since the ban on hound hunting its an explosion of the cougar population & more attacks. Become such a problem that the state (Washington) will more'n likely reinstate hound hunting.
Had a cougar "scream" at me once, a sound you'll never forget....
Interesting that the wilderness is "creeping" in on y'all, wonder why that is?
Its the other way around here, too many folks encroaching on the wilderness & the critters havent anywhere to go....
A friend of mine in the hollers of East Kentucky recently told me about having a "black panther" prowling around her cabin!
I've asked her to take a photo for me...
Take care & watch out for "Mother Nature" :-)
