: : No, you are not the only one. Does anyone know anything about Virginia troops in the French and Indian War? I'm interested in their participation. Any recommended reading?

Siyo ---

though I dont have any suggestions off the top of my head (though I would hazard a guess that any book that deals with (George) Washington's early life would be a good start), I found your question interesting, as I was looking thru Don Troiani's latest art book ("Soldiers in America, 1754 - 1865") & the very first print (pg.3) is entitled "Soldier, Virginia Regiment, 1754" (!)...
It also gives a brief background on the raising of this force & their uniform (materials, etc)...
Troiani is probably the most historically accurate military artist of the periods in question around today.
His larger works are researched for years (a couple actually went thru 20 yrs of research!) before brush ever touches canvas. I wish he'd print his notes on the Civil War, he has such details as to include what color horse a paticular subject was riding that day, or the position of the sun (etc)...
Simply incredible!
Anyhow, for an accurate portrait of a Virginia soldiers uniform during the F&I War, check out his book at your local bookstore.
Good luck on the rest, perhaps Major Bray can suggest a book on the subject?
