It is e-mails like this one, received yesterday, that REALLY get our juices going! Often times we take hits for various reasons, and are criticized for the most trivial of things, most always based on ego-centric obsessiviness or total misunderstandings of our intentions and/or objectives. So, when we, from time to time, receive praise from unknown folks, it does our hearts good! We thought we'd share this one with you since it INCLUDES you all in its praise!
Thanks for the support!:
"Dear Friends;
My brother, [name omitted], sent me the link to your site.
HE got me into doing 18th Century Living History, and at my first event,
I was invited into a tent for a photograph to be an extra in the movie.
I spent around six weeks commuting most days from the Winston-Salem area,
and was able to enjoy the constant rain-outs and tremendous heat and humidity.
He gave me the address to your site a few months ago, and actually I had
wanted to attend this year's gathering.
But I just started a new job, and there was no way I could have made it.
It is difficult to believe how much hard work you people have done in
putting all of this together. Judging by the messages since the event, it
must have blown people out of their shoes! This is the best site I have ever
SEEN, and I MEAN IT! The photos are fantastic, the writing is perfect, and
the arrangement is spectacular!
Hats off to all who have put this wonderful thing together!
(I was the colonial guy sleeping inside the fort at night as the camera
passes one of the fires, and then advances to the woman who was humming. Five
men with the camera walked all over me 10 BLOODY TIMES. I did not complain,
because it was funny. They were serious, though, which made the concept of
"Hollywood walking over people" an interesting reality. I was pleased to be a
part of it. I blew one take though, when one of the logs in the fire snapped,
and I thought a spark had landed in my hair. I opened my eyes and stared
directly into the camera. I felt a little silly).
Anyway, again, Thank you incalculably for the great site and photo
collection! It must have been a really great time!
I am planning to attend next year's gathering. I swear, I became
teary-eyed when I read some of the messages.
Thanks again, and best of everything!"
